En la ruta de Juan Parrochia Beguin - Premio Nacional de Urbanismo Chile 1996

Se presenta, en la primera parte, un conjunto de testimonios de profesionales de diversas disciplinas que trabajaron en Urbanismo en Chile, donde se comunica su pensamiento sobre una época y un personaje señeros en materia de desarrollo urbano en Chile. A continuación, una serie de expedientes fotográficos de obras seleccionadas, a partir de documentos provenientes principalmente del archivo profesional del arquitecto Juan Parrochia.

Ellos se complementan con fotografías provenientes de otras diversas fuentes resultando una colección inédita en gran parte. Su publicación resulta doblemente apreciable, toda vez que sus matrices ya no existen en las fuentes originales. Este material permite una particular visión retrospectiva de la construcción de las obras expuestas. Concluye la primera parte con una aporximación a la fase formativa chilena y europea del personaje en Urbanismo, donde se ofrece una visión más integral de su personalidad cultural y como naciente urbanista. Se rinde homenaje allí a los altos inspiradores de Juan Parrochia, Patrick Geddes, Lewis Munford, Robert Auzelle, Gaston Bardet, Luis Muñoz Maluschka. En la segunda parte del libro se despliegan tres capítulos: Antología, Bibliografía y Biografía a sociada al Premio Nacional, aportando algunas precisiones y referencias para la historia del urbanismo chileno del siglo XX.

Abstract

In the first part of this book are presented a number of testimonies of professionals of diverse disciplines who have worked in urban planning in Chile, in which they express their thoughts about an era and a personality which between them showed the way in his chosen area of urban planning in this country. The chapter of personal testimonies at the start of this book is followed by a series of graphical documents drawn principally from the professional archives of Juan Parrochia. The reproduction of the photographic selection made has resulted doubly significant, in that it has previously been for the greater part unpublished, and the negatives no longer exist in the original sources.

This material, complemented by other varied sources, permits a particular retrospective vision of the constrution of the principal works carried out. The first part of this book concludes with a approach to the formative Chilean and European phase of personality, and a more integral vision of his cultural influences, as well as of the upcoming planner, is offered. A tribute is paid to the great inspirers of Juan Parrochia the planner Patrick Geddes, Lewis Munford, Robert Auzelle, Gaston Bardet, Luis Muñoz Maluschka. In the second part of this publication, the material that is presented was until now widely dispersed and difficult to get acces to. It has been organised in three chapters: Anthology, Bibliography and Biography associated whith J. Parrochia, including a number of insights into, and references to, the history of Chilean urban planning in the twentieth century.
